Christening gowns may have changed slightly in their style of the years, but fundamentally, they are largely the same. A well-made christening gown will stand the test of time, so if you plan on having more children, or think it might be passed on to family members, you can invest in a timeless gown that will still look just as good in 5, 10 or even 15 years’ time.
Make sure you choose a gown that is going to fit your child at the time of the christening. Never underestimate how fast babies grow. If you do buy a gown earlier, think about finding a seamstress who will be able to adjust it for you.
You should also make sure the gown is appropriate for the season. If it is winter, think about layering it up so your baby isn’t going to get too cold. If it’s summer, then the gown alone should be enough, but have layers to hand just in case.
